LILLY TRUCKING OF VIRGINIA JOINS CIRCLE BAR RACING FOR DAYTONA
CONCORD, N.C. (February 9, 2010) – Circle Bar Racing today announced that Lilly Trucking of Virginia, Inc., has agreed to sponsor Rick Crawford and the No. 14 Circle Bar Racing Ford F-150 for the season-opening NextEra Energy 250 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Daytona International Speedway. Crawford, the 2003 winner of the Daytona 250, will pilot the No. 14 Lilly Trucking of Virginia Ford F-150 in Friday night’s 100-lap, 250-mile race under the lights at Daytona.
“Dennis and Sharon Lilly are good friends of Circle Bar Racing and when they heard that we were looking for sponsorship to get us to Daytona, they stepped up and offered their support,” said Crawford, who enters his 14th year of full-time competition in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. “We’re still looking for a full-time sponsor to come on board my No. 14 Circle Bar Racing Ford F-150 for the remainder of the season, but I couldn’t be any prouder to carry the Lilly Trucking colors for our series’ biggest race of the year at Daytona. I also just found out that Dennis’ birthday is Friday night, and I can’t think of a better gift than a trip to Daytona’s Victory Lane with the Lilly Trucking Ford.”
This isn’t the first time that Lilly Trucking has adorned the No. 14 Circle Bar Racing Ford. Lilly Trucking was the primary sponsor on the No. 14 at Richmond International Raceway in 2005, and the distinctive blue, silver and black paint scheme of the Lilly Trucking fleet will be duplicated on Crawford’s No. 14 entry this weekend.
“We’ve worked hard all off-season preparing this race truck for Daytona, and 2010 is a special season for me and Circle Bar Racing,” stated Crawford, who has a series-leading 322 career starts. “We’ve been competing in the truck series since 1997 – all the while running the No. 14 – and this year marks the 14th season that I’ve had the honor and privilege of piloting one of Mr. Mitchell’s Fords. We’ve had a great run in those 13 years, but I still feel that we have some unfinished business.”
Veteran racer and champion chassis builder Scott Weaver will assume crew chief duties for Crawford this weekend. Weaver, who has been with Circle Bar Racing since 2007, is no stranger to success at Daytona International Speedway. Weaver captured the pole for the 1999 NASCAR Goody’s Dash Series race at Daytona, and has three victories as a driver and five championships as a chassis builder to his credit.
The 2010 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season commences on February 12, at Daytona International Speedway with the running of 11th annual Daytona 250. Live action can be seen on SPEED, the exclusive home of the Camping World Truck Series.
