This Week in Ford Racing: David Starr
David Starr, driver of the No. 10 MAXX Force Diesel, has two career top-10 finishes in five starts at The Milwaukee Mile, site of this weekend's NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race. Starr says the historic track is one of his favorites on the circuit.

On racing at the Milwaukee Mile. "Milwaukee is a great, great facility. I like Milwaukee because it reminds me of Indianapolis Motor Speedway - so much history there. It's been there over 100 years. As a little boy growing up, reading about all the great race-car drivers, pretty much every one I ever read about always mentioned The Milwaukee Mile. So, the first time I ever went there it was magical. Being at The Milwaukee Mile was kind of cool because I had read so much about it. But, I'm looking forward to getting over there and racing. It's a neat race track because of the way it's laid out - long straightaways, wide sweeping turns, but I think turns one and two at Milwaukee are probably the most difficult corners out of any race track we race in NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. Very challenging. You've got to have a lot of discipline, and don't over-drive the corner. It makes for good racing, and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series puts on a great show there, so I'm excited to go there. I love racing everywhere, but Milwaukee's got a special place in my heart."
Milwaukee is a very flat track: "It's flat. A lot of the race tracks have a lot of banking in them; I feel like Milwaukee, the banking is negative, kind of like the race track is slanted the wrong way, it's so flat, you know? It's very challenging because it's flat, but it's unique and different, but I like that. I think what separates a good race-car driver from a great race-car driver is the one who can be successful on the different types of tracks that we race at, so I'm looking forward to going over there. We've been competitive over the years there, and, man, if I could just get a win, for our Ford F-150 with our new sponsor, MAXX Force Diesel, that would be a big boost for our racing team."
This is your first year with this team. It's now June; how are things going? "We're getting turned around. I saw about four races ago that we're getting our program turned around. Getting started so late in the off-season really put our backs against the wall. We're now getting our trucks where we want them. Me and my championship crew chief, Dennis Connor, are kind of getting on the same page with each other. It's just takes a lot, I guess you could call it, growing pains. We're getting through the growing pains. I think getting the chemistry right with the guys - it's such a team sport, you know, everybody on the team is so important that if you have a bad seed it can really bring the team down. So, we're getting our racing team where we want it. I think we've turned the corner and I look for big things to come for the rest of the year, and I'm looking forward to getting my Ford F-150 into Victory Lane."
